Technology: good or bad?

Ipods, computers, televisions, mobile phones - it's all technology which most of today's generation certainly couldn't live without. It's a 'must have' for today's society and can even be seen to help save lives. You may say that it's not really needed but whilst you sit at home watching TV in the evening, you should consider the pure complexity, usefulness and entertainment it provides for us. These three scenarios show how technology can be used today.
While walking along a quiet alleyway, you see ahead of you a young girl lying on the floor crying out for help. Gazing around, it is only you, running over to her you see that she is severely injured and requires immediate care. But you're nowhere near your car or a hospital. Reaching for your bag you grab your mobile and call 999 and an ambulance attends the scene in less than 15 minuets. Without that phone, the young girl would have died a lonely and cold death. Technology can save lives!
You've decided to want to lose some weight this New Year and have decided that motivation is what you need. Jogs are so boring and you really find it hard to get inspired. You have an idea you can download some tunes which will really get your blood pumping. You enjoy the jog for once and finally you start to burn those calories.
Technology helps you lose weight!
You cannot afford to go and visit you Nan, who lives on the other side of the world and miss her greatly as you have not seen her for at least 6 years. You turn your computer on and your webcam; likewise does your Nan. For the first time in 6 years, you see that smile that you adored and missed greatly. The sparkle in her eye glows a beam onto your face. You chat for hours and have the most enjoyable and memorable evening ever. Technology brings smiles onto missed loved ones!
These three scenarios bring the true meaning to that word, which some tremor behind, 'technology'. Yes, sometimes it may be confusing and leave you puzzled by those pages and pages of instructions but it does make your life what it is. Sophistication of today's world is down to this and not only opens up the world to your hands but gives you some of the most useful tools you could ever dream of.
Back many years ago, kids would dream, wish and draw fantastic inventions which they never believed would ever exist. Such things as computers, mobile phones and even MP3 players would have been substituted with a ball of string, a paper aeroplane and a slide. One word can only describe today's technology and upcoming inventions being created - it is 'astonishing'.
Sometimes technology of today is taken advantage of much like an everyday tool. But this just emphasises how useful and meaningful this is to us; it is a tool for the modern world; a third hand for the man and woman of today's generation.
Technology: something to be proud of, a tool of usefulness and amazement.
