Ideas to help protect our planet

Our planet is one of eight that revolves around our sun. The planets are (in order of closeness to the sun first) Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Pluto, after extensive research, is no longer believed to be a planet.
The planet on which we live is Earth. It is the third from the sun and the fifth largest. As far as we know, it is the only planet in our solar system capable of supporting life. Two-thirds of the Earth is covered with water. The rest is covered with land, such as continents and islands.
Since water is the first of our basic needs and such a small fraction of it is available for drinking, what happens to it should be one of our greatest concerns. There are several oceans and seas. One of the problems at the moment is the dumping of toxic waste in water bodies.
Toxic waste is usually something poisonous left over from chemical reactions. These chemicals are usually found in factories. A possible solution would be to return to handcrafting, which would also produce jobs worldwide. The next problem is the over-fishing and over-hunting of aquatic animals.
Some people fish too much because they are greedy and also because other people will pay large amounts for rare creatures. These people should be jailed. People sometimes over-fish because they don't know better. If they were better educated about the damage it causes to the environment, then it might not happen in the first place.
There are countries where people dump produce like flour into the seas because they have made too much of it. They build up mountains of food, which then stay in storage for years. Some countries actually pay farmers not to farm. There are millions of starving people they could share some of this food with and this would also be better for the environment.
Oil spills kill a large number of marine animals. Oil is also a nonrenewable resource, so the obvious solution is to focus on replacing it with more environmentally friendly power sources like electricity, methane, water and steam. The same goes for the other fossil fuels. These are only a few problems that the water and its inhabitants face.
Some of the problems the land faces include deforestation. We need trees because they turn carbon dioxide into the oxygen we breathe. Without them, we would all die. We can remedy this by planting trees and recycling paper and wood.
Radiation kills plants and animals, as well as humans. A simple solution would be to get rid of nuclear bombs and, while we're at it, we should get rid of small weapons as well. There are many human caused problems with our world today and the best way to deal with them is by educating the next generation.
