Together we can stop poverty

Today, people in wealthy countries take for granted the amount of money they earn and don't take a minute to think about those people in Third World countries, who probably work twice as hard as they do for less than half the pay. It is people like us who take for granted the basic luxuries that we have every day, for example, food, water, money and it is because of this that poverty is happening.
People today are getting so wound up in their own lives that they don't even think about what people in Third World countries are going through. In these countries some people go days and days without food and water, and their main focus in life is not paying the bills or making sure they are eating five portions of fruit and veg a day; their main focus is to keep their families and themselves alive and to have enough water each day to keep them hydrated and healthy enough to look after what they have.
The thing that puzzles us the most is why we have so much money, more than we could ever imagine but people in poverty have absolutely nothing. Why can't we share what we have? Or at least give something to help these people stay alive. Our government today is worrying about things that, in our opinion, are nowhere near as important as stopping or at least reducing poverty. I think that our main focus should be helping these people out, because in my opinion people should not be made to live through such awful conditions when they have done nothing wrong and who do not deserve this whatsoever.
This is where we come in, we need to stop poverty. Things have already been done to try and reduce poverty, like making fair trade products and having charities like Comic Relief to try and stop it. Rather than worrying about day to day issues like what your hair looks like or what you’re wearing, take a minute to think about how worrying it would be for you if you had no secure place to live, no water, food or family around. Would you be able to cope? People in Third World countries don’t have a choice. They have to cope and they try to get on with it. They don’t think about what they look like or what their friends might think; the only thing they think is staying alive from one day to the next.
We are the generation who can change this. Not our parents, not our grandparents, us. To do this we will have to work as one. Bringing our ideas together and stopping poverty forever. So next time your fretting about the amount of pocket money you get, take a second to think that that money you will spend on magazines and sweets could feed a family in a Third World country for a week or longer. We hope that you agree with us and will think more about poverty and the way you can stop it in the years to come.
