My thoughts on global peace

Global peace is when there are no conflicts, fights, wars or terrorism and when people are good to each other and the world's people believe in equality, justice and freedom.

We can make global peace by making people stop fighting and helping those in poverty and those in need. We must also end slavery, torture, murder, assassinations, rapes, war and conflict between countries.

Without global peace the world can't come together

Every day many normal people have lots of difficulties either because of war or terrorism or murder. With this fear how is the world supposed to cope? With all these happenings, will life be wiped out? Will the Earth itself be destroyed? Let's take a poll!

It seems that my folks think that Earth could be destroyed or robbed of its life. Now back to the topic. Vietnam was very badly affected because of the war fought there many years ago. It is still experiencing problems caused by that war even though it was so long ago. Another two wars are being fought now. These are the war against Iraq and the war against terrorism. These should stop. Too many people are dying and suffering. The world will not be peaceful and united if they continue. Our only hope is if the UN stops all this or if there is a new Mahatma Gandhi.

If there were global peace there wouldn't be any problems or conflicts and the world would win. There would be less poverty and greed and more friendship and the people would be united. People would also be less selfish and more honest. It would be a paradise just like long ago in Indian mythology when King Rama was ruling. Just think about all the advantages. This is how the world should be but is not.

Everyday many people die because of war, terrorism, illness and murder. Please help us make the world a better place. Here is a poem I have made up to encourage people to create peace.

The Earth should be happy.
There should be grateful kindness,
But there is not though.

People should have joy,
People should have happiness.
No one is happy.

But our Earth should have joy.
Please work for peace,
Let's make the Earth happy.

Recently North Korea and Iran developed nuclear missiles. They were doing this in spite of the US's warnings that it would cause massive destruction. North Korea was then planning to bomb South Korea, which is the democratic republic of the Korean peninsula, but the US stopped them. Phew! What a sigh of relief!

The war against Iraq has killed lots of people. A whopping six hundred and fifty-five thousand people have died in the war. Many have lost their homes. Many innocent people have died. It is sad, very sad.

The war against terrorism has started and lots of innocent people have been checked as to whether or not they are terrorists. Let us hope that there is never again another terrorist act like September 11, when many people got killed and hurt as the buildings went down.

I think that nobody should make arms. All countries should be harmless. They should only have arms if they have to. They should be friendly to everyone, even their enemies. They should be making a lot of truces and not be greedy and want to take over other countries. They should also be nice to each other. That is my verdict.

Some historians believe that there will be a time when countries at war will someday be united like Europe, which was at war not so long ago but has now formed the European Union. Some scientists think that the whole world will do the same.

Now here is something sad and good. Dr. Frank Laubach, a US missionary to the Philippines in 1935, saw poverty, injustice and illiteracy so he developed the 'Each one, Teach one' literacy program, which taught 60 million people how to read in their own language.

Many Buddhists believe that peace of mind is the key to global peace. Having anger and hatred will only make more conflict. We should have love for each other.
