How can we bring peace to our planet? How can we stop further fights and wars? These are questions, which are very difficult to answer. We, the people of the planet, have to take action. Being one global family, we should try our level best to solve these kinds of questions.
To get started, we need to look at the issues that are creating such problems on our planet. Countries don't want to settle their arguments with each other in a soft and quite manner but want to fight and have wars to see who is right. People are misusing money and power. Terrorism and other crimes are increasing day by day but very few people are speaking up. To succeed in our goal of bringing peace to the world we must combine our hearts and minds. While it is good to concentrate on the positive and focus on solutions, we also need to honestly face the difficulties. Humanity today is crippled by hate, fear, greed, sickness, crime and the misuse of money and power. Now we need to see what we can do as individuals. Individuals will differ in what they pay the most attention to. You may get interested in composting, planting trees, or volunteering for some project that is bringing peace and justice to your neighborhood. If we look back at our past we can get great examples of individuals like Mahatma Gandhi and Subash Bose, who did their best to bring peace to their country and our planet. Today, violence and wars are not only disturbing human society but also the environment as well.
There are many problems that we face: factories are releasing harmful gases into the atmosphere; nuclear energy has the potential to be used for our destruction; deforestation has become a job for a lot of people; and diseases are spreading rapidly. There are many other things that are destroying the prospect of peace in our environment. To fight against these problems we need to care for and respect everyone. Because we all share the planet Earth, we have to learn to live in harmony and peace with each other and with nature. That is not just a dream, but also a necessity.
We are dependent on each other in so many ways that we can no longer live in isolated communities and ignore what is happening elsewhere. So far we have only looked at what is bothering us and how we feel about it, but what about Mother Earth? The human population and resource use have reached a certain stage where Mother Earth can no longer just accept our presence. It is like she is giving us a warning that we, her children, are behaving really badly and there is a limit to our actions. As we come towards the end of this article, I want to mention that if we unbalance nature, humankind will suffer. We must consider future generations: a clean environment is a human right like no other. Last, but not least, 'let every individual and institution now think and act as a responsible trustee of Earth, seeking choices in ecology, economies and ethics that will provide a sustainable future, eliminate pollution, poverty and violence, awaken the wonder of life and foster peaceful progress in the human adventure'.
