Let's have peace

What comes to your mind when we utter the word war? When I hear it I think of destruction, broken homes, ruins of cities, demolished buildings, poverty, weeping mothers, crying babies, diseases, and the death of so many people.

At this very moment there are thirty wars going on around the world. There are many causes of war. Let's take a look at the causes and the consequences of war. It can be because of a greedy man, religion or sometimes for a piece of land. For example, the cause of World War Two was just a silly man named Hitler who was very greedy. He wanted Germany to rule over the whole of Europe. Another reason for war is land. An example of this is India and Pakistan, which have had many wars for the piece of land called Kashmir.

Although the reasons for war are so small the consequences are very big. Millions of dead people, everything in the city destroyed, no one knowing what to do next, babies becoming orphans, mothers becoming widows and fathers becoming widowers. We all know how people in Afghanistan are suffering because of the US-led War on Terror. It has affected the whole country and will take at least a decade for all the damage to be repaired.

If all wars were to stop we would all have a beautiful world to live in, where there wouldn't be a lot of needless deaths. We would live peacefully, and we would be free to travel to any country we like. Most of all we would have many friends, neighbours and partners from all over the world.

What can we do to stop the wars and have peace in the world? Whenever there is a disagreement between two countries I think the heads of the two countries should sit down and discuss the problem peacefully. The same thing should happen between two communities within a country. People should respect each other's religions and remember that everyone in this world is equal.

I think all of us want peace and the best way to bring global peace is by having love for all the people of the world and treating them like our own. Think a hundred times before you start a war!
