Ending terrorism and achieving peace
Maharaja Man Singh Vidyalaya
India
When God created this world, there were no borders or lines drawn on the world map. Then came his most wonderful and intelligent creation: humans. But, God never thought that his greatest creation would repay him for the gift of life by destroying this world and killing each other!
There are a great number of spoken languages, dialects and regional variations in this world. People profess and practice different faiths. Such beliefs are reflected in their customs, rituals, morals, norms, dress and festivals. In spite of all this, we have to stay united and remain one.
Certain anti-national and external forces are trying to disturb the unity of some countries by inciting communal feelings and sentiments. These are disturbing times. There has been an increasing level of intolerance, disharmony and lawlessness. There have been riots and the killing of innocent people. These incidents have terrorised people. When people face a threat to their lives, they tend to cling to their socio-religious groups. This often leads to distrust of other people belonging to different communities. Violence should not be allowed to raise its ugly head and destroy our unity. When a country is torn by internal strife, there is always a danger of external aggression.
Terrorism can occur in many ways. Terrorists can plant bombs and other explosive devices in public places, and thus kill men, women and even children and destroy property. They can blow up railway tracks and destroy trains. They can kill important political figures so as to strike terror among the masses. They can also indulge in mass killings. They can hijack planes so as to press for their demands. Sometimes, they form suicide squads, which go about killing people and wreaking destruction by strapping bombs to their bodies. Terrorism has become a widespread phenomenon.
Attempts should be made to strengthen the common bond of unity that ties people together. If we want to put an end to terrorism and achieve peace, then we must join hands and become one. We need to fight against terrorism and make this world a better place to live in!
