The cost of greed

Sarang
Indus International School
India

Once young Man, walked the Earth,
Calm and kind, were his ways,
His heart was pure and filled with grace,
Caring for others, through all the days.

Man farmed and sold,
Taking from nature only what was in need,
He didn't grab more than that,
For he was not filled with greed.

And soon Man learned,
Slowly filling his head,
With all the knowledge,
Like he was being fed.

Quite some time came to pass,
And Man devised plans:
To cheat! To hurt! To steal! To hate!
He was filled with anger: 'Revenge!' said Man.

War soon broke out,
Deadly weapons landed amongst all,
Mighty destruction was everywhere,
And Man saw his best accomplishments fall.

It was only too late that Man realised,
All peace was lost,
His anger had taken the best of him,
He had victory, but at what cost?
