Global peace and the issues
Global peace is when the whole world has freedom, peace and happiness. Conflicts can happen due to a range of issues. Most conflicts are very complex. Conflicts and war are most likely to happen when groups in a country or region, don't have equal rights. If people across the nation have very few rights, there is obviously more incentive to fight for land and resources.
If the government of a poor country is unable to deliver basic services, like health care and employment, its people have more reasons to feel angry and resentful. This, in turn, can boil over into armed uprisings, wars and conflicts.
Wars and conflict are major causes of poverty and human misery. They kill and injure thousands and leave many others homeless. They destabilise economies and communities and make the poorest people even poorer.
Conflict is also more likely to happen in poor countries, partly because people are desperate for land, rights, water or even food.
Comparisons of wars over the years
Nowadays wars and conflicts often occur because of an inadequate supply of resources. Poorer countries often tend to have wars more often than developed countries. Wars and conflicts nowadays are mostly within countries rather than between them.
Wars in the past were mostly about power and rulers. Wars and conflicts in the past were widespread across the globe and one country often wanted to rule over very large areas. People in the past were obsessed with power, so anyone who opposed their leaders was treated harshly or even executed.
How can international communities bring peace to the world?
The developed nations in the United Nations Assembly must help nurture the developing nations of the world. They could do this by helping to provide educational opportunities for every child on this Earth to develop themselves into good human beings. They can give funds for various infrastructural requirements, educational aides, and for the educational exchange of students. Everyone on this planet should develop a feeling of belonging. This concept must basically be accepted by all the nations of the world.
How can individuals and groups of people help bring peace?
It is possible to get inspiration from world leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Theresa, Swami Vivekananda and Subash Chandrabose, by learning about their history of suffering for the underprivileged. Their biographies must be included in a suitable manner in history lessons in various grades. The people who get inspiration from these leaders will no doubt have greater human values and become greater human beings, which will help bring peace to the globe.
How are countries rebuilt after the end of a conflict?
Conflict arises due to a lack of understanding of each other's points of view. Very strong personalities with good oratory skills should discuss the problems of each other and bring about an understanding for mutual benefit. Such people are the best ambassadors to convey their requirements to the world body. In this way, mutual help in terms of technical/financial collaborations of the countries are rebuilt.
What is peace and what are we aiming for?
Conflicts bring about a lack of peace for all concerned. Getting rid of conflicts achieves peace. Our aim is to get rid of conflicts. It would be like having light instead of darkness. Peace is happiness. As an example we may need good roads to be built in a remote area for better transportation and communication. This may require dislodging some people living in that area. To resolve the conflicts arising out of this dislocation of people, they should be relocated to some other convenient area with due consultation.
By these various approaches to the different problems, we can bring about global peace for our planet.
