A word of vision

Nayab
Pascoe Vale Girl's College
Australia

A word has captured minds.
A word has formed a dream.
A word has shown a future.
A word has done, it seems.

Why, can we be seen as one?
Can the seas and skies unite?
Can the streams of water
From the oceans
Shield us, when flames ignite?

A word sparks flames of colour.
A word is seen as light.
A word in tunnels bleak, murky.
How may a word be so bright?

Why, can we be seen together?
Can the earth and rains merge?
Can the storms we abhor,
Which drown tranquility,
Make calm upon the shore?

A word seems too serene.
A word seems too afar.
A word we see as an oasis,
In anguish of our own heart.

Why, can this word not be
A word we all grow into,
A word we everyday breathe?

A cloudless sky, absent of
Rain and rain-making storms.
Storms, tearing flesh.
Storms, heaving tears.
Storms, draining blood.

We all must search for a word,
Enclosed in which is a sanctum.
What word can this to be?

A word seems to bring hope.
A word seems to bring ease.
A word seems to bring love.
A word seems to be peace.
