Why does Australia value a fair go for all?

In Australia we love to say, 'Fair go, mate!'
Sometimes people from other countries don't understand what this means.

Well, it means it doesn't matter if you win or lose, if you are black or white, if you are young or old, a girl or a boy or if you are rich or poor because everyone is entitled to equal opportunities in our country, Australia.

We think that global peace would improve if everyone in the world said 'Fair go, mate!' and they really meant it.

Imagine if people in Iraq were able to say to the bombers, 'Fair go, mate, we've had enough of this violence!'

Perhaps people might start realising all the terrible things that they have been doing. Maybe they will start saying 'Sorry' to one another, perhaps they may start talking to each other.

Remembering that we are all human and should be all equal may help to spread global peace.
