ABOUT THE AUTHOR
has been deputy headteacher at Eastbourne Technology College since April 1999. He is the member of the senior management team, with the responsibility for managing the Specialist School initiatives. Eastbourne Technology College was the first technology college in East Sussex. Since gaining the specialism, Eastbourne Technology College has been involved with a number of initiatives that have helped improve attainment from 26% A*-C grades in 2003 to 67% in 2006.
The college is in the process of moving from ‘by age’ to ‘by stage’ teaching and learning. Recent work has focused on providing the structure to enable this transition. Tony has delivered workshops on curriculum design and personalisation as part of the SSAT events programme.
He is also chair of the local deputies group and a member of the partnership 14-19 operational group. From 2006, he has had a two-day per week secondment to the Local Authority, as a 14-19 manager..
