Learning tools

Even though the traditional form of learning has changed somewhat with the tools changing form and beauty, one thing obvious is that the electronic world is driving learning in all directions.

If the tools will distract the student then it should not be in the space at all. Students these days play with all kinds of mini and micro devices. These can be enhanced to form part of the tools the student need for learning. Hand held and pocket devices can be turned into classroom in the hand and in the pocket. A kind of one stop shop for all goods and services except that in this case, it is for academic work as well as for relaxation.

Also if they missed out on something in class (whether present or absent) they can easily tap into it in the classroom electronic storage library without necessarily asking a friend or the teacher unless of course the student does not understand what was posted to the subject area forum

Students will need mobile learning devices such as PDA Phone to enable them to connect and communicate. In the past, we communicate through drawings or hand-written text. Students now will want to capture their own image and as such, they will need virtual space to put up their photos or as well as to share with their peers. Students of this age would like their work to be appreciated or commented. They also like to have a say about their friend's work.

First, I think, is highly desirable have installed a PC in very good conditions to be used with suitable and accurate programs according to the level the student is coursing at the time . Besides , the student will need books to look up details and information to learn in the best way. But the most important aspect , for me , is a coordinator, tutor or guide , whatever you want to call this person in order to control, check and guide the topic the estudent is working about because the lack of motivation and habits make this procedure a bit hard to get if it is not supervise by a teacher or at least a grown up person. I can say that technology is changing many aspects of our society, specially the world of teenagers. It can seem such an obvious statement that we can take it for granted, but we as adult haven't realized of this. We have to notice that the impact of web 2.0 can change the ways of learning, the old times of chalk and blackboard are almost prehistoric and have given space to computers, mobile phones, internet, mp3, mp4 and all the "mp something". Teachers must take advantage of all these and learn to use youtube, facebook, messenger, fotolog as learning and reacreational tools. Don't you think?

I expect schools to have many more technology based devices maybe some of the substitutions would be:

A diary, replaced by a PDA system

The school books, replaced by a network of mini laptops, with all that you would need

Maybe graphic's rooms would have the graphic tablets. (See website below) [content.costco.com]

I also think that the learning will be more personalised, maybe students working in small groups or via video conferencing calls.

The introduction of technology will hopefully benefit all but, problems with the technology may mean that learning is disturbed and will that mean that the learning has been improved or not?
